Holiday Meeting

Hey everyone!

We missed everyone who didn't come to this meeting. We had a good time visiting and showing each other our projects. We just wished more of you were able to come. It's such a shame Nancy got sick this time. She was really looking forward to having everyone over to her house. Maybe we can do it there next time. I'll check with her first. Here are a couple of photos I took at this meeting:

I'm not sure where we are going to be having our meetings for next year but I know when we are going to have them. So, here are the dates for 2008:

January 12th

February 9th

March 8th

April 5th

May 3rd

June 14th

July 12th

August 9th

September 6th

October 4th

November 1st

I'll let everyone know where we are having our next meeting sometime soon. I hope everyone one has a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

3rd Yarn Dolls Meeting

We had another fun meeting on Saturday. We all brought projects to work on. Judy had some baby blankets she's been working on and Nancy was working on a beautiful red poncho. I tried to figure out my new oblong Knifty Knitter loom. It's not as easy to figure out as the round loom. Nancy brought her friend Sherry with her this time. Sherry was working on a pot holder. We all had a great time. It always seems like the time flies by. Oh, yah. Sherry was the one who won the door prize. It was a Crochet a day pattern desk calendar. Here's the pictures we took:

We are going to have our next meeting at Nancy's house. She will email everyone the directions and a map. We decided we will have a holiday swap. It can have something to do with crochet or not. You could even make something if you like. It's up to you what you bring. If you don't want to participate just don't bring a gift to the next meeting. That's o.k. too. Still bring a project with you to the next meeting. We always love seeing what everyone is working on. We didn't talk about a price limit on the gift. I'll email everyone to find out what works for everyone.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

See you at the next meeting!

Knitting for Noggins

Well I made it. I was a little late getting there but Judy was waiting patiently there for me. I was only able to get three hats done for it but I'm going to start earlier next year. I just didn't have enough time to do as many as I wanted to this time. I think Judy was able to get three done as well. That makes me feel a little better. :) It didn't last until 4 p.m. like it said on the web site but I guess they wanted to make sure that everyone had a chance to drop off their hats. We met Susan B. Anderson after she spoke and signed her book "Itty-Bitty Nursery" that people had bought that day. She's a really nice person. I really enjoyed meeting her. She was very down to earth and fun to talk to. She even wrote down the name of this blog because she wanted to check it and leave a comment on it. I can't tell you how nice she was to us. If you would like to check out her blog just click on this link: http://www.susanbanderson.blogspot.com/

Here are a few pictures we took while we were there:

This one is of Susan with her book "Itty Bitty Nursery".
This is Judy with some carrots that Susan knitted with orange chenille yarn and green feathers. Aren't they just too cute!
Here I am with a baby mobile that Susan did with little mice and flowers all over it. The whole thing is covered in yarn. All the mice and flowers are knitted. I just loved this one!
Here's Susan again with one of her creations. A cute little bunny.
It was great fun to go. Now that I know what to expect. I hope I can do a better job of organizing a group of us to go to it next year. I think everyone would have a great time.

And if you would like to check out the Knitting for Noggins web site here it is: http://www.archildrens.org/volunteer/Knitting_for_Noggins.asp

They were able to collect almost 20,000 hats this year.

Well, that's all for this time. See yah next month!

The 2nd Yarn Doll Meeting

Wow, it's been a whole month since our last meeting. Not many people were able to come to this meeting but we still had fun. We had two new people come this time. It was great getting to meet them. I hope they are able to come to the next meeting and of course I hope everyone else will come too. Carolyn showed us how to use the Knifty Knitter to make hats. It's so easy to use, that I bought one after the meeting. I can't wait to use it. You can make hats with it in no time. She almost had a hat finished before we even had time to really get started making a hat by crocheting it. Some of us are going to Children's Hospital for Knitting for Noggins this Sunday. I hope to see some of the girls there. I know two said they are going and I hope I make it there too. I will be sure to take pictures if I do. Here's a picture from this meeting:

Next time bring whatever project you are currently working on so we can see each others handy work. We may even do a holiday swap if everyone wants to participate. The next meeting will be on Nov. 3rd at Michaels again. I'll email everyone the time after I've reserved it with Michaels. It should be around the usual time.

Hope to see everyone there!

The Yarn Dolls First Meeting

We had our first meeting today at the Golden Corral in North Little Rock. We had a total of five people show up. It was so much of fun. I think we all had a good time and it just went by so fast. We ate and talk for quite a while. Afterwards we all went to Hobby Lobby (for our first field trip!) to shop and talk more. We decided we will meet at Michael's in North Little Rock on Oct. 6th for our next meeting. We also decided to crochet hats for the Knitting for Noggins campaign at our next meeting. I hope more people will be able to come next time.

I can't wait until our next meeting!

P.S. If anyone would like to come to our next meeting just go to http://www.crochetville.org/ and sign up there. All you have to do is message me there. My name is Opal on that site too.
