Here’s the photos from this meeting:
Here’s the patterns for the shawl and star from last months post. Naomi came up with the patterns. I wrote out the star one and someone else wrote out the shawl pattern. If I made any mistakes please let me know.
Naomi’s V (for victory) ShawlWith N size hook, Ch 138 loosely.
Row 1: TC in 4th Ch from hook, Ch 1. * YO twice, insert hook in same Ch as first TC; YO and draw through 2 loops twice (2 loops remaining on hook) YO twice, skip 1 Ch, insert hook in next Ch, YO and pull through 2 loops twice (3 loops remaining on hook); YO and pull through 3 (pull thight); Ch 1.*
Repeat between *’s to end of ch. At end, there will be 2 loops on hook. Work a TC in last Ch, pulling through 3 loops at the end; Ch 1 tightly, then Ch 3 and turn.
Row 2: TC in Ch 1 space (top of V stitch below) Ch 1 * YO twice, insert hook in same space, pull through 2 loops twice (leaving 2 loops on hook); YO twice, insert hook in next V space, pull through 2 loops twice, YO and pull through 3 loops (pull tight); Ch 1. Repeat from * across row.
At end of row, work a TC in top of Ch 3 turning Ch, pulling through 3 loops (I only had 2 loops, did I goof up somewhere?) at the end, Ch 1 tightly, then Ch 3 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the size desired.
There will be 67 V stitches and a post on each end of row.
Work 3 rows red, three white, three blue; repeat two times more.
Dimensions: about 28 x 60” plus fringe.Naomi’s Star
Yarn: white (A), red (B) & blue (C).
With color A: Ch 3. slst into the 1st ch to form a circle. Ch1. 10 sc into circle then slst into 1st sc in circle. * Ch 5. sc into back of 3rd sc from hook. 1 hdc into back of next st. 1 dc into back of next st. skip next sc on round. slst into next st. Repeat * until you have 5 points.
Change to color B: Ch 1. slst in back loop only all the way around star except on top sc of each point. Make a sc on the top of each star.
Change to color C: Ch 1. sc around star.
Make 2 stars.
Then join both with color C with slst around. Leave opening on one corner. Finish off.
Naomi is making the stars for service men & women who are currently serving. And she is making the shawls for their family. She wanted me to past the patterns along to anyone who would like to join her in making them. Just let me know if you make any and I can give you her contact info or you can always drop them off at her church: First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. She is an associate Pastor there. You can always drop them off at one of our meetings too. She will try to come to them. If she’s not there I would be happy to get them to her.
The 5th annual Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza is going to be December 2nd and 3rd. For those of you who are not familiar with it here’s their website http://www.arfiberartsextravaganza.com/. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Many of us are going. It’s going to be in Hot Springs this year. Even if you can’t stay both days try to come on Saturday if you can.
Our next meeting is going to be December 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nixon Library in Jacksonville. We are going to have a pot-luck and a dirty santa gift exchange. The gift can be fiber related if you want and the limit will be $10.
Hope you get to come,
Opal
